Mabel Boardman led the Red Cross after it received its Congressional Charter in
1905. During her tenure, the Red Cross established an endowment fund, created its
network of nationally chartered chapters, and expanded its services to the general public.

Henri Dunant was the Swiss businessman who founded the International Red Cross
and Red Crescent Movement in 1863 after witnessing the painful plight of wounded
soldiers at the Battle of Solferino. Today, with almost 100 million volunteers, the

million beneficiaries each year.

Sue Williams was a devoted volunteer of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter

George W. Karr, Jr. is a past chairman of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter’s
board of directors and a longtime supporter of our mission. Under his vision and
leadership, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter designed and built Red Cross
House, the innovative housing facility for victims of disasters.
The Clara Barton Society $25,000 & Above

Clara Barton worked tirelessly in the battlefields of the American Civil War and
the Franco-Prussian War. She founded the American Red Cross in 1881 after
experiencing first-hand the impact of the Red Cross in Europe and served as its
first president until 1904.
