Accounting: Experienced in Purchasing

Purpose

The Accounting Department is in need of a committed and skilled volunteer to work alongside the Financial Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Working closely with Financial Coordinator to manage vendor pricing and relationships, and provide support for Chapter purchases
  • Obtaining quotes and placing orders
  • Maintaining records and invoice reconciliation

Qualifications

  • Purchasing experience required
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office suite, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Detail oriented and excellent with deadlines and follow-up
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training
  • Willingness to take on this task for a minimum of 1 year, preferably longer

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
