Bloodmobile Volunteer Driver

 

Purpose

Transport and deliver donated blood in sealed containers from bloodmobile sites to the Musser Blood Center lab in Philadelphia in a Red Cross van or personal motor vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission.
  • Transport blood from local bloodmobiles and deliver to the lab in Philadelphia for processing.
  • Record assignment mileage data and submit as specified.
  • Report vehicle maintenance problems to the Blood Support office for repairs.

Relationships

Reports to Volunteer Coordinator, Senior Manager and Transportation Chair

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Dependable.
  • Ability to follow written/verbal travel directions accurately and use maps.
  • Have the minimum insurance coverage required by the state of PA
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and mcp’s.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record – clear of motor vehicle accidents or major violations.

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • Completion of transportation policies and procedures, volunteer transportation specialist training
  • On job training
