Bloodmobile Volunteer Trainer

Purpose

The main focus of the Bloodmobile Volunteer Trainer is to train Bloodmobile Volunteer Assistants in the procedures used in both areas of bloodmobile operations (reception and refreshment) in accordance with guidelines set by Blood Services and the FDA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Work with Blood Support Volunteer Coordinator to schedule new volunteers for training
  • Prepare materials for training sessions
  • Train participants in procedures for each volunteer duty and task according to guidelines in Blood Services Instructor Guide
  • Report documentation of training as specified to Blood Support Volunteer Coordinator
  • Be familiar with and implement all organizational policies and procedures

Reports to Volunteer Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of staff, volunteer, and blood donors
  • Ability to teach effectively in either an individual setting or in a group setting
  • Experience and proficiency in procedures at all bloodmobile stations
  • Requires the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Legible handwriting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • Completion of Introduction to the Red Cross orientation, blood services volunteer assignments training, blood services volunteer instructor guide training
  • On job training
