Disaster Instructor

Emergency Services, Chapter Headquarters

Purpose

Conduct workshops/seminars for American Red Cross staff and/or volunteers, or other agencies requesting training on topics related to disaster response work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Develop course outline and details for workshop for American Red Cross staff and volunteers on revised procedures on case report forms.
  • Present seminar on disaster services available from the American Red Cross to requesting agency.
  • Prepare and present workshop on disaster response work.
  • Develop new training programs
  • Revise existing programs
  • Teach workshops and seminars

Relationships

Reports to Training Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and specialized training/experience in area requested.
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • On job training
  • Fundamentals of Instruction
  • Disaster Instructor Specialty Training (DIST)
  • 3 basic courses and some response experience
