Lifeline In Touch Volunteer

Purpose

American Red Cross Lifeline is a 24-hour personalized home monitoring service that provides emergency assistance to people in need.  The In Touch Volunteer is responsible for taking calls requesting emergency assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Follow instruction and helpful hints sheets consistently and proactively
  • Maintain and update follow-up sheet after each call
  • Contact subscribers by phone in a organized and professional manner
  • Backup coworkers as needed
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Reports to Volunteer Recruiter

Qualifications

  • Tact, maturity, and good judgment in order to deal with the public
  • Ability to think quickly and clearly and to adapt to unusual situations
  • Good verbal and listening skills
  • Patience
  • Sensitivity to the issue of older adults and people with health problems and disabilities
  • Honesty and Integrity
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization
