Position Title

Public Relations Administrative Volunteer

Purpose

The Public Relations department is one of the busiest, yet one of the smallest areas at the Chapter.  Tasked in part with maintaining the visibility and promoting the work of the program areas, this position will allow the PR department to focus on its core responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Photocopying and archiving of news clips
  • Scanning and archiving of photographs
  • Light bookkeeping
  • Organizing, filing, data entry, other general office work
  • Scheduling and tracking health fairs and community service appearances

Relationships

Reports to Public Relations Manager

Qualifications

  • Working in an office environment and operating regular office equipment such as the telephone, fax machine, scanners, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with various Chapter constituencies
  • Teamwork orientation and a desire to work effectively with the entire department and Chapter
  • Basic knowledge of the American Red Cross mission and Chapter programs helpful
  • Ability to use MS Word, Outlook and Excel desired

Time Commitment

Ideal for an individual motivated to commit time and energy to a humanitarian cause working 12 hours per week on as close to a set schedule as possible.  Hours are negotiable.
