Position Title |
Atrium Staff Assistant |
Purpose |
To answer phones and assist in all aspects of helping staff (line and administrative) maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment for residents, volunteers, and staff in the Red Cross House. |
Key Responsibilities |
- Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
- Read Red Cross House Policy and Procedure Manual
- Read Red Cross House Rules and Regulation for Residents
- Answer telephones, screen and forward calls and make appropriate referrals
- Take messages for staff that cannot take the phone call. Make sure full names, address, phone numbers and message can be read. Place the information in the person’s mailbox
- Forward routine calls to appropriate staff
- Greet volunteers, visitors, and donors. Direct volunteers to appropriate staff for training or supervision. Direct visitors to appropriate site in Red Cross House.
- Screen donations that cannot be accepted to appropriate agencies
- Screen volunteer information calls and direct calls that cannot be answered to the chapter office Volunteer Coordinator
- Assist line staff with resident requests, supplies, (baby, hygiene, cleaning, laundry, and juice drinks for children)
- Assist administrative staff with copy materials and mailing
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications |
- Reliable
- Available for 2/3 hours shift – same day each week
- Willing to participate in a morning/afternoon of training on phone system
- Previous phone (multiple line) experience helpful
- Ability to write neatly and clearly
- Attentive to detail
- Attentive to confidentiality – program and personal individuals
- Good communication (oral and written) and organizational skills
