Position Title

Family Services Caseworker

Purpose

To provide disaster assistance to individuals or families and assist in returning them to pre-disaster stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Complete case record
  • Ensure client’s basic needs (food, shelter, clothing) are met
  • Referrals to other agencies
  • Client advocacy

Reports to Director of Red Cross House

Qualifications

  • Reliable and Dependable
  • Ability to work with clients in stressful situations
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Sensitivity and empathy to clients
  • Attention to detail
  • Active listening skills
  • Driver’s license preferred but not required

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • On job training
  • Intro to Disaster, Mass Care, Shelter Operations, Family Service, CPR/First Aid/AED, Preventing Disease Transmission
  • One week training period with Family Services
