Red Cross Clubs Intern

Purpose

The American Red Cross-Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, offers Red Cross Clubs (RCC), which provide students in 18 high schools with opportunities to develop leadership skills, build confidence and tools to make healthy decisions, and contribute to their communities. The RCC model involves a core group of students in each high school, who, with the Teacher Sponsor and Red Cross staff support, participate in a range of activities, mostly after-school, which teach HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) prevention education, disaster preparedness, first aid/CPR skills, leadership styles and techniques, and International Humanitarian Law. These students then are encouraged and guided in developing and sharing their lifesaving knowledge and skills with their classmates and others through school-wide presentations, including “Red Cross Days”, community service projects, and other events during the school year and in the summer.

The Red Cross Clubs Intern is responsible for assisting RCC staff and Teacher Sponsors with planning and facilitating club meetings.  The Intern will prepare for after school club meetings and will provide technical assistance to help teacher sponsors implement their club meetings.
