Vehicle Maintenance Volunteer

Purpose

Vehicle Maintenance Volunteer aranges for State Inspections, periodic maintenance, repair and checks on the overall condition of suburban vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
  • Schedule repair and service appointments as indicated and arrange for vehicle delivery and return.
  • Follow-up reports of problems, malfunctions and take necessary action
  • Check fluid levels, tires, the overall condition of body and mechanical operation and complete the monthly inspection and service report.
  • Report to Volunteer Coordinator all maintenance work considered and any related matters which indicate a need for additional action
  • Be familiar with and implement all organizational policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record – clear of motor vehicle accidents or major violations
  • Knowledge of standard maintenance recommendations, familiarity with auto mechanical systems
  • Clear motor vehicle record
  • Have minimum insurance coverage required by State of Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • Transportation and vehicle maintenanc procedures and policies training
  • On job training
