At a Glance: Our Chapter
The American Red Cross is comprised of 824 individual Red Cross chapters located throughout the United States. Viewed as a leader within the Red Cross system and in our community, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter teaches valuable lifesaving skills, responds to disasters, and rebuilds lives after a crisis. Responsible for addressing the needs of the communities within our five-county region, the Red Cross is ready to respond at a moment’s notice, day or night.
Your support is critical
We are only as effective as the local residents and organizations that support us. Your support means that we can continue our great tradition of people helping people, whenever and wherever disaster strikes. You can take pride in knowing that when you help the American Red Cross, you help America.
Hurricane relief is just part of the story. Dollars raised within each community support a variety of local Red Cross programs and services, including but not limited to:
Health and Safety Services
Everything from CPR and first aid to lifeguard, nurse aide and automated external defibrillator (AED) training. Last year, we trained and certified 109,151 people, and reached another 174,749 through several education efforts in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Disaster Services
Providing direct aid and comfort to families affected by disasters, including food, shelter, clothing, mental health services and other necessary relief. As well as, educating our community on disaster and emergency preparedness. 4,012 people received comfort and care last year in the devastating aftermath of disaster.
Armed Forces Emergency Services
Sending communications to members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving all over the world on behalf of local family members who are facing emergencies or other important events. In 2005, we helped 2,091 military families deal with an emergency situation while their love ones were on active duty.
Youth Services
Empowering children’s lives by focusing on skill development related to personal and civic responsibility, healthy behavior, and preparedness through specialized programs, like CPR training. We reached 76,151 youth in Southeastern Pennsylvania last year.
The Red Cross is your local link to care and compassion.
By supporting the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, you invest in our ability to immediately mobilize people and resources in support of future catastrophic disaster operations and you provide the safety net for local families in times of crisis.
