Karol Wasylyshyn - Serves as an Inspiration to Us All
Your local Red Cross is such a strong and dependable presence in the community because of dedicated volunteers like Karol, who, day in and day out, show us through their support how much they believe in the Red Cross mission.
As chair of the Spectrum Awards Committee for the past nine years, Karol has been the single irreplaceable force behind the event’s success. Under her leadership, the event has gained the attendance of Delaware Valley’s most influential women, raising a combined total of nearly $1 million.
“If the effort that I spend to help raise money for the Red Cross contributes to people having a sense of hope in what can seem like a hopeless world, then I am so grateful and ready to do that as long as I can,” said Karol. It is with words like these that Karol is able to motivate and inspire others to go the extra mile in support of the Red Cross year after year.
"It's not about me being honored, it's about the honor I feel to serve [the Red Cross]"
A clinical psychologist, Karol’s specialty is leadership development, and she consults to senior executives in companies around the world. For the last three years, Karol has shared her expertise as a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter’s elected board and member of the Executive Committee. Karol not only shares her time and talents with the Red Cross, but she is also a member of the Boardman Society of the Red Cross Council, SEPA’s leadership gift society.
At this year’s Celebration of Volunteers, Karol was presented the Anita Lockwood Award for her outstanding day-to-day leadership. When asked about receiving such an award, Karol said, “I just have to say what an honor it is to serve the Red Cross. How can you not feel honored about serving an organization that has as some of its principle’s humanity, neutrality, universality, and unity? This is so resonant with my own value system. My answer is, it’s not about me being honored, it’s about the honor I feel to serve.”
