Greetings,

Fresh from Thanksgiving, we're reminded of how thankful we are for all of our Emergency Services volunteers.

In November, we called on nearly 80 of you to staff the round-the-clock Red Cross shelter for dozens of people displaced by a devastating fire in Norristown. For more than a week, many of you worked multiple, 12-hour shifts to help deliver critical Red Cross services to people in need.

That fire was just one of 69 disasters we responded to during the month. With your help, we provided emergency assistance to 417 people. And for that, we are truly thankful.

Sincerely,

Tom Foley

It is hard to prepare yourself for a DSHR assignment. You hear about the disaster through the media and call the DRO Information Hotline to gain useful information, but it can only partially prepare you for when you witness it firsthand.
