Blood Services Support

Please Give Blood

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood.  The American Red Cross has been providing the Greater Delaware Valley with its blood supply since World War II.  Today, we supply over 100 of the region’s hospitals with blood collected from the nearly 200 bloodmobiles held each week.

Our chapter provides the volunteer support needed to successfully run bloodmobiles in the suburban areas Bucks, Chester, Montgomery and Delaware counties.  Our Blood Services Support Volunteer Teams are filled with fantastic men and women who have the satisfaction of knowing they save lives each time they volunteer.

How you can help

Blood Services Support is always seeking new volunteers who are looking to make a difference in their communities by volunteering at their local bloodmobiles.  Our volunteers enjoy a flexible schedule with many days and locations near their homes to choose from once a month or every week!  We offer three ways to volunteer with the Blood Services Support program.

  • Bloodmobile Volunteer Assistants greet and register blood donors and serve refreshments and monitor donors at local bloodmobiles.  Bloodmobiles last approximately 5 to 6 hours from morning to afternoon or afternoon to early evening.  This position is filled with wonderful and caring volunteers who help make the blood donation experience pleasant, efficient and satisfying to our donors.
  • Bloodmobile Volunteer Drivers transport lifesaving blood from local bloodmobiles to the Musser Blood Center Laboratories in Philadelphia just off the Vine Street Expressway.  Drivers May use Red Cross vehicles, which are parked out in the communities, or use their own vehicles and received mileage reimbursement.  No lifting is required.  Blood deliveries generally take 3 hours to complete and are assigned during daytime hours.
  • Bloodmobile Volunteer Schedulers maintain the monthly team schedule by making phone calls to schedule other volunteers to serve at local bloodmobiles.  This position is great for outgoing and organized individuals who would like to volunteer from home.
