AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Units
Early defibrillation is a critical component in treating cardiac arrest.
What is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)? An AED analyzes the heart's rhythm for any abnormalities and if necessary, directs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the victim. This shock, called defibrillation, may help the heart reestablish an effective rhythm of its own.
The American Red Cross has established relationships with three Automated External Defibrillator (AED) manufacturers. They are Philips Medical Systems, Cardiac Science, and Zoll Medical Corporation. We can demonstrate each type of AED unit and help facilitate the sale of the unit that best fits your needs. When a company purchases an AED they make a commitment to maintain the unit so it is always ready to help save a life.
AED Sales Facilitation and Maintenance
When you purchase an AED from the manufacturing company through the American Red Cross you not only take advantage of the American Red Cross's purchasing power you also get an AED program. The American Red Cross will assist in your AED maintenance program:
- By sending email reminders for you to check your AED unit's accessories.
- By keeping you informed about specials the manufacturing company may be offering.
- By informing you of any changes in protocol
- By sending training recertification notices, your company will be reminded of the need to re-certify staff.
