General Disaster Preparedness Program
Students are taught the necessary steps to prepare their families and homes for potential disasters. These steps include putting together a Family Disaster Plan and assembling a disaster supply kit. In discussing the disaster plan, students learn the importance of preparedness steps such as installing smoke alarms, posting emergency phone numbers and making and practicing escape plans with their families. Students also learn what to include as part of a disaster suppliy kit. This program can be used with students in grades 3 through 12.
