Social Worker of the Year

We all know that March is Red Cross Month.  Did you know that since 1984 March has also been designated as the month to acknowledge and recognize the contributions to the quality of life made by America's half million social workers?  The Nationals Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with more than 150,000 members. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its Members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

On Saturday, March 18th, at Temple University, the Pennsylvania Chapter of NASW- Philadelphia Division, gathered along with Keynote Speaker US Representative Allyson Schwartz, to participate in several education workshops on topics such as Disaster Relief, Trends in Drug Abuse and Contemporary Social Work Issues.  At this event our very own Maureen Tomoschuk was recognized as Social Worker of the Year.  The Recipient of this honor is noted by his/her colleagues as someone who advances the profession of social work with the dedication to the members and the public.  With a diverse background that includes case management, hospital administration and of course disaster services, Maureen has dedicated her life to the principles of social work and is truly a worthy recipient of this award.  We congratulate her on this honor and recognize just how fortunate we are to work alongside her each day.
