Shelter Operations (Class #6804)

Shelter Operations prepares Red Cross Responders to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team, and to meet the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster. REQUIRED FOR ALL ES RESPONDERS

  • Tuesday, April 11th – 6:30PM - 9:00PM (SEPA Chapter)

Volunteer Orientation/Simulation (Class #6480)

Volunteers, who have joined the SEPA Chapter in the past year, should attend this local indoctrination to Emergency Services. New volunteers will receive an overview of the SEPA Chapter’s background, staff and volunteer structure, and how to join a disaster action team (DAT). Most importantly, volunteers will have the opportunity to simulate a city response.

  • Tuesday, April 25th – 6:30PM - 9:30PM (Upper Merion Township Building)

Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism - (Class #6185)

Provides information about the issues and safety concerns in performing in an environment involving a Weapons of Mass Destruction and/or Terrorism (WMD/T) incident. Participants learn about the skills, abilities and knowledge needed to work in this environment.

  • Thursday, April 27th – 9:00AM - 4:00PM CPR/AED (Class #6805)/First Aid (Class #6808) (SEPA Chapter)

This lifesaving course teaches how to respond to choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are the newest link in the chain of survival. First Aid teaches the skills needed for situations such as bleeding and sudden illnesses. CPR/AED is renewed every year; First Aid is renewed every 3 years. REQUIRED FOR ALL ES RESPONDERS

International Services will be offering this class, May 18th, from 9am to 1pm. Please call 1-800-42-cross to register.  Space is limited to 20.

Orientation to International Services:

This is a foundation course for all paid and volunteer staff because it deals with our historical roots, our identity as part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the reasons for American Red Cross involvement internationally.

International Services will be offering this class  May 4 , from 9a.m. to 1p.m. Please call 1-800-42-cross to register. Space is limited to 20.

To be held at 23rd. and Chestnut St, Philadelphia

Prerequisites: None
Length: Half-day   

International Relief and Development.

This class concentrates on the relationship between the Federation of Red Cross/ Red Crescent Societies and the American Red Cross. We will learn about different relief and development projects of the American Red Cross around the world.
